Rehabilitation on a patient's leg

Who We Are:

Rose Cambodia Rehabilitation Centre (RCRC) is a local non-government organisation and a project of Rose Charities Australia, both of whom are dedicated to improving health and rehabilitation services in Cambodia. RCRC provides rehabilitation for marginalised Cambodian children and community members with disability, illness or injury. We are newly established, becoming formally registered in March 2011, responding to a locally identified need for physical rehabilitation services in the region, and in particular, at the local Government hospital. We are currently well underway in the process of establishing a high quality clinical rehabilitation centre and physiotherapy service at Chey Chumneas Referral Hospital with appropriate outreach services.

What We Do:

RCRC provides physical rehabilitation services at the hospital and in the community. Services complement surgical procedures, as well as non-surgical rehabilitation. We have a number of organisations we refer to for complex surgical consultations, including the Cambodian Military Hospital with Dr Nous Sarom, and the National Pediatric Hospital.

RCRC provides rehabilitative intervention for members of the community and patients at Chey Chumneas Referral Hospital, working together with government health services. We provide training for local medical staff, nurses and therapists in the benefits of physiotherapy to maximise outcomes for patients and also provide outreach services to increase the accessibility of our healthcare. We provide education and awareness sessions in the community with an aim to prevent unnecessary disability, and encourage the inclusion of all people.

How We Work:

Supported by Rose Charities International since conception in 1997, RCRC was initially established in collaboration with Operation First Cambodia and Rose Charities Australia to develop a facility and program to provide physiotherapy and holistic care. RCRC, while still continuing with surgical rehabilitation, has evolved and broadened it’s focus towards disability rehabilitation and health care. Significant support is also received from Rose Charities Canada, and Rose Charities USA, and is a demonstration of the cohesive network of Rose Charities International.
